In 1959
a Japanese radio specialist
was exiled to the
Showa Science Station
Antarctica
He was cut off from the world
and the woman he loved
Using short wave radio
he began to record sounds
and music
These compositions
were his solace and inspiration
but he believed
they could be much more
Before vanishing on the ice
he placed his recordings
and other works
in a sea locker
He included a note:
* * *
I have often dreamt of the
person that may find this.
Who are you?
My only hope is that you are
a person of good conscience
and that you can see my work
for what it is. Either way,
this locker is my legacy.
Please treat it with respect.
